What are Malaysians good for? Food, if nothing else, and sniffing out the best places to eat, anywhere we may go. So when in Melaka or Malacca, however you spell it, eat Nyonya food, they said.
Which led me to trying a placed I’d heard about for a while – 486 Baba Low in Melaka. Boy! Was this place hard to find or what?!
486 is actually the number of this house, which is tucked away just off Jalan Tengkera. There is no sign board nor indication that there’s an eating place here. It’s just a shed built onto the side of a house. So, if you are using Waze as I did, just drive slowly and keep your eyes open.
I missed it the first time around because it was actually closed. It closes on certain days, and I don’t know when so erm… try your luck.
486 Baba Low is supposedly known for its nyonya food. I’d hesitate to say food, because it’s actually nyonya quick meals. What you see on the board is all they sell.
